Memories of Home

Two posts from me in one day...making up for lost time! Mrs. Goodneedle asked what speaks "home" to us. These Hümmel figures that belonged to my mother do that for me. My mother had this pair, Brother and Sister, for as long as I can remember. As a child, I thought of them as Hansel and Gretel, about to enter the forest with a basket of breadcrumbs. I wanted to take them down from the high shelf where they stood, and make them walk along, ready to meet the wicked witch at the enchanted cottage. Now they stand in my china cupboard, always reminding me of my mother and the innocence of childhood.
